Video Launches During World Breastfeeding Week; A Stylish and Informative How-to Featuring Tips and Techniques for Breastfeeding Success
New York, NY (August 5, 2004) The REAL DEAL on Breastfeeding™, a 25-minute video providing instruction, insight and inspiration for today’s expectant and brand new moms made its debut August 5, 2004, during World Breastfeeding Week. Created by two nursing mothers, the REAL DEAL features experts and hip, real moms sharing tips, tricks and encouragement to make nursing a success.

In addition to her medical credentials, Dr. Dermer trained to become a board-certified lactation consultant after nursing her two children.
From first feed to weaning, Heather Kelly, a board-certified lactation consultant delivers the REAL DEAL on nursing. There is no better way to learn about breastfeeding than seeing it done firsthand. Viewers will watch Ms. Kelly teach a brand new mother techniques for:
- Latch-on
- Positioning and holds
- Eliminating discomfort
- Increasing supply
Ms. Kelly is a mother to three breastfeed boys; she is expecting her fourth child in November.
The REAL DEAL appeals to today’s savvy parents with its sophisticated production value, created by an Emmy-award winning editing team, and a funky, original music score. Music was created and performed by Erin O’Hara, one of the REAL DEAL moms.
The REAL DEAL on Breastfeeding™ is the inaugural project from Playgroup Productions LLC. Conceived by two nursing moms during playdates, the REAL DEAL grew out of their own nursing experience and 15-year friendship. Meghan O’Hara was recently a field producer on Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11; she was also a field producer on Moore’s Oscar-winning documentary, Bowling for Columbine. Katie Fogarty has worked in television with New York 1 News and CNNfn.
Both Ms. O’Hara and Ms. Fogarty struggled in the early days of breastfeeding their first children; both quit sooner than planned. Nursing their second children showed them that breastfeeding was not only possible; it could be enjoyable. This video is the resource they wished had existed when they first tackled the challenges of breastfeeding. Ms. O’Hara and Ms. Fogarty are mothers of two spirited toddlers.
